Decision route
- Identify the trading account’s platform in the PA.
- List non-negotiable functions: EA, custom indicator, browser, mobile or multiple accounts.
- Eliminate incompatible terminals.
- Install/open from an official Exness/MetaQuotes route.
- Verify supported build, server and credentials.
- Run login, order, SL/TP, history and log-retrieval tests on demo.
Current desktop baseline
Since 1 July 2025, Exness lists MT4 Build 1440 and MT5 Build 4755 as minimum supported desktop versions. Older terminals may not connect. Check Help → About and recheck the current official platform page before relying on a saved installer.

Software safety
Reject cracked terminals, modified APKs, remote “account manager” installers and tools asking for a PA password or security code. An EA may need trading permission but never withdrawal authority. Keep downloads, logs and model/EA versions documented.

Questions from a first-time learner
Can I use an MT4 account in MT5?
No. The trading-account platform cannot be changed; create a matching account.
Which software runs EAs?
MT4 or MT5 desktop with code written for the matching MQL version.
Can WebTerminal maintain a trailing stop?
No. Use desktop MetaTrader and keep it running.
Is MultiTerminal suitable for one beginner account?
Usually not; it is designed for managing many MT4 accounts on the same server.
